Electric Tricycle Project Puerto Princesa

Dave Dewbre on 3000 watt motorbike attached to one of Puerto Princesa's existing tricycle sidecars for a test.Dave and I went to Puerto Princesa, Palawan, Philippines to help Mayor Edward Hagedorn evaluate the possibility of converting the existing gas tricycles to electric. Dave retrofitted a new 3000 watt  eBike and hooked it up to an old, heavy sidecar to see if it would do the job.

Mayor Ed Hagedorn wanted to know if our 3000 watt Electric motorcycle would pull an existing side car on one of their local gas tricycles sidecars. That same day, Dave and his associate in the electric motorbikes, Willy Dela Cruz, took it to a welder and it was done by 8 AM the following morning.

The Mayor took off on it like it was a Ferrari!! He had no problems with it. This is a test of the Mayor's EV feasability study for Puerto Princesa's existing gas tricycle problem.

Pretty neat little idea. It's good to see some local officials actively looking into alternative power sources. I can only hope that more authorities follow this example for a greener tomorrow.
