Electric Motorbike Tips 101

Dave has been driving electric motorbikes going on 4 years now. Three of the 1000 watt models have over 9000 kilometers on their odometer and we have only had to change the batteries just recently.

Here are some tips from Dave on how to care for and ride them to get the most out of your electric-bike:

Caring for and riding electric motorbikes!


1. If you use the bike daily, charge it daily. You cannot over charge the units, the charger shuts off when complete.

2. Never use the battery pack to ZERO so that you have to walk the bike home, draining the batteries to zero reduces battery life.

3. A low tire can cost you a lot of distance, make sure tires are always filled to spec and not low.

4. When climbing a long hill, do not carry another rider or a heavy load.

5. Before a hill if there is a downgrade, speed up to the speed limit so as to help your upward momentum.

6. Once a month check all visible bolts and screws they may need tightening.
7. Obtain same canned “fix a flat” carry it with you in case of a flat tire you can fix it on the spot.

8. Check the oil and change it once every year, the oil in the drive gear, not motor. Have technician show you how. It takes 3 drops.

9. Keep the entire bike, wheels and all surfaced except the seat waxed to help preserve the finish, especially here in the tropics.
10. Use Armoral or similar for the seat cover.
11. Always use the CENTER stand when the side stand is not as safe.
12. Use slow, steady, even and smooth acceleration to increase your driving distance.

dropped by and gave an informal blessing
to the GT Eco Center.

The famous healing priest and good family friend, Father Fernando Suarez, dropped by our Green Tech EcoCenter to say Hi. He was in Puerto Princesa to do a tennis tournament for the prisoners at Iwahig Prison without Bars.  We asked him to bless our establishment even though he wasn't really prepared, since it was just an impromtu visit, but he did perform an informal blessing of the center and all of the electric motorcycles and vehicles on the lot!

We had business guests from Manila, the makers of the fabulous Electric Jeepney, Rommel Juan and Bong Cruz and they were able to meet Father for the first time. Their E-jeep is now plying the roads of Makati and other cities in the Philippines to help cut carbon emmissions.  Thousands of people die of bronchial disease every year in Manila from breathing the air pollution caused by the gas belching vehicles.

The city of Puerto Princesa bought one of their electric jeepneys which is housed and dispatched from our Green Tech EcoCenter.  Dave and I have been testing it and using it in the city's various parades to educate the public about electric vehicles and their benefits.

The mayor is a pioneer in researching and using electric Trikes and is trying to replace all of the gas belching tricycles on the roads now with electric versions. Dave Dewbre has been developing a few models to test on the roads of Puerto Princesa, Palawan.

Electric Jeepney Philippines by PHUV

The city of Puerto Princesa latest electric vehicle acquisition! The E Jeepney by PHUV (Philippine Utility Vehicle, Inc.) They dropped this off at our Green Tech EcoCenter, the authorized service/maintenance and dispatch center for all the city's EV's.

We tested it last night and it is the smoothest ride of all the EV's in the city's inventory.

The charger is a manageable size.

Auto parts makers to produce Pinoy electric jeepney

The entire Climate Friendly Cities Program will therefore complement the Waste Segregation Program of the government, convert biodegradable household wastes into electric power, then use this electric power to charge and operate smoke-free electric jeepneys to provide transport in an environment-friendly public transport system and help save the environment.

 It includes MVPMAP and is funded by a Dutch NGO, the DOEN Foundation, which will fund 50 units of the emission-free electric jeepneys for the program.
